In August 2007 Jovan Manojlovic led two MMA training sessions at our club in the course of his journey from Belgrade to Regensburg (tournament). We got along with him very well and were impressed by the quality of his trainings. Thus we invited Jovan to visit us from February 20th (Wednesday) to February 24th (Sunday) in Passau.

Jovan and Bernhard
Jovan holds numerous ranks and instructor licences: "Shooters MMA Instructor", "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt" and "Krav Maga Instructor (civil, police)", to name only a few of them. He heads several martial arts academies in Belgrade and teaches MMA/freefight, submission wrestling and Krav Maga - to "civilians" as well as to security companies. You will find a couple of successful fighters (amateurs and professionals) among his MMA students.

We trained on Wednesday and from Friday to Sunday - about three hours per session. All participants enjoyed themselves a lot, despite some signs of exhaustion that could be witnessed towards the end of the week... Most of the time Jovan concentrated on the fundamentals of MMA - comprising mainly Muay Thai-, freestyle wrestling- and ground fighting techniques. He put much emphasis on the connection of fighting distances and techniques.

Jovan on the ground...
Jovan has a very professional and didactically sound way of teaching. He always embeds new techniques into a "central fight line". Thus - at the end of a training session - you have a complete flow through the stuff you’ve just learned. Furthermore we really liked Jovan’s drills since they are easy to implement in real fight. Besides this Tilmann and I had to accept that MMA ground fighting is far less complex and sophisticated than our way of submission wrestling. ;-)
